'The Pen'- Literary Magazine (Issue 03)
Please find below the third edition of The Pen, Mosman Prep’s literary magazine. The magazine is a showcase of the boys’ writing. It also demonstrates the progression of writing over the different year groups. Every student at Mosman Prep has contributed to the magazine.
International Care Ministries - Vacation with a Purpose 15
Vacation with a Purpose (VWAP) 15. By popular demand after running VWAP 14 times, the International Care Ministries are organising a vacation to the beautiful El Nido Resorts in Palawan, Philippines for participants from Australia. (Saturday, 28 September to Saturday, 5 October, 2013).
Just what is a VWAP? (1) Primarily it's a vacation with friends in a stunning location. But, (2) it's also an opportunity to see hope in action with a visit to see International Care Ministry's work with the very poor in El Nido town.

'The Pen'- Literary Magazine (Issue 02)
Please find below the second edition of The Pen, Mosman Prep’s new literary magazine. The purpose of the magazine is to showcase the variety and breadth of boys’ writing, as well as demonstrate the progression of writing over the years. Every student at Mosman Prep has contributed to the magazine.
PET Bottle Greenwall - Assembling
Planting and assembling the wall takes place on Friday 23 November. The format for participation will be identical to the workshop roster. Classes will be given the same time slot allocation and parents are encouraged to assist with the process. Of course if you are able to spare more time then please feel welcome to stay.
We need plant cuttings for our wall and cuttings collected from your home would be ideal (a list of suitable plants can be found in the below document). Cuttings should be brought to school on Friday 23 November wrapped in wet newspaper in a plastic bag.

Terrey Hills Open
Here at last! The official opening of the new facilities at Terrey Hills will take place on Thursday 1 November at 10.30am. Senior Primary boys will attend the site on this day and Junior Primary boys will be taken there on Tuesday 30 October for their sports day. Parents invitations to attend will be sent home with the eldest son on the first day of Term 4, if you do not receive one please refer to the following pdf for details.
Sydney Bus Timetable Changes
There have been some changes to several bus routes around the area please ensure you check to see if your son is affected.
Murray Stewart Visit
We were privileged to have Murray Stewart, gold medal winner in the K4 class at the London Olympics speak to our boys and show them his Olympic gold medal. This was Murray’s first speaking engagement since returning to Australia.

In order to celebrate the National Year of Reading and Book Week 2012 we have compiled a “Collection of Most Popular Reads” as recommended by the boys of Mosman Prep.This can be read here: 2012 Popular Reads
A Book Fair will also be held on Grandparents' & Special Persons' Day - Thursday 23rd August. Displays will be set up in the Library giving people the opportunity to purchase a book for the Library. Purchase times will be from 9.00am – 3.30pm.

Below is the first edition of The Pen, Mosman Prep’s new literary magazine. The purpose of the magazine is to showcase the variety and breadth of boys’ writing, as well as demonstrate the progression of writing over the years. Every student at Mosman Prep has contributed to the magazine.

Thursday 26th July
- Class photos commencing with Y3 & Y4 at 8.35 a.m.
- School uniform to be worn.
Friday 27 July
- Sports Photos commencing 8.30 a.m.
- The correct uniform for that particular team sport is to be worn
- Football boots for winter sport are not to be worn, running shoes instead.
- All class and individual photos are to be ordered and paid for on or before the day of photography.
- Orders received after photo day will incur a surcharge fee of $20 per order.
- Before then, each boy will have received an order envelope with all details included.
- This envelope must be returned to the class teacher with the appropriate payment included.
- The cost for this will be clearly stated on the envelope (cheques payable to “MSP PHOTOGRAPHY - SYDNEY”, no credit card facilities).
- Class portraits and a number of individual portrait photos will be made available.
- Family photos will not be taken.
- All Sports’ and group photos will be on display later in the term. These can be viewed and ordered later, using order forms available through Reception.
Below are some details from the Health Department regarding symptoms of whooping cough. As whooping cough is considered contagious please consult your doctor as soon as possible if you have any concerns. Confinement is a mandatory five days from the first taking of antibiotics if whooping cough is identified.
Reading Strategies Workshop
Below is an invitation for Kindergarten parents to attend a workshop next Thursday morning 24 May, after drop-off, on reading strategies. This will help parents with their son's reading. Parents with young boys from Junior Primary are also most welcome to attend. Parents should meet in the Library at 8.30am. We should be finished by 9.30am.
