Sex Education and Readily Available Pornography in the Cyberworld - Thursday 5 November 2020 (Free Virtual Event)
On Thursday 5 November, we have invited Dr. Patricia Weerakoon to speak on Sex Education and Readily Available Pornography in the Cyberworld.
Dr. Patricia Weerakoon is a medical doctor, academic, sexologist and writer. She retired in 2012 from a career as director of an internationally renowned graduate program in sexual health, at the University of Sydney, to pursue her passion for writing and public speaking.
Sadly, exposure to pornography for children is increasing with accidental exposure highly likely due to the increased need for online activity. Curiosity, exposure through a friend or sibling, or just accidental discovery, might be leading your child to experience pornography. Your child might also encounter pornography on free games websites for children.
Dr. Weerakoon will speak on sexual development and how kids’ bodies, brains and behaviour are affected by mis-education through the exposure to pornography, with the particular emphasis of online pornography.
Importantly, she will guide parents and caregivers on how to be the primary educators for your children in healthy sexual understanding and healthy relations for the future.
Register by clicking on the link above. You will receive a Zoom link and further instructions two days before the event. We look forward to seeing you online!
