Our Quality Staff Team
At Mosman Prep we have an outstanding teaching and general staff team.
“Mosman Prep is continually striving for excellence in all aspects of school life, based on a foundation of strong Christian values. The teachers and staff are truly outstanding, and the boys are well supported in their learning journeys and provided with incredible opportunities to grow.” (Parent Survey feedback 2025)
Quality teachers and other Staff are the most significant in-school determinant of student outcomes, having a greater impact on achievement than school resources or socioeconomic factors. Effective teaching boosts student attainment, engagement, and socioemotional skills.
Collective teacher efficacy (the shared belief that teachers can positively impact student learning) is one of the most powerful influences on student achievement. It drives higher academic success, increases teacher resilience, and fosters collaborative, evidence-based practices.
Teacher wellbeing is critical for fostering a positive school climate, sustaining high-quality teaching, and enhancing student academic and emotional outcomes. It directly combats burnout and reduces teacher turnover, ensuring staff feel engaged and supported. Prioritising teacher wellbeing creates healthier work environments and, by extension, better learning outcomes for students. To promote this, schools are encouraged to focus on fostering a trusting, appreciative culture.
Key reasons for the importance of teacher wellbeing include:
- Improved student outcomes
- Reduced attrition and burnout
- Increased engagement and productivity
- Enhanced school culture
- Holistic health
And yet, 9 out of 10 Australian teachers are experiencing severe stress, and nearly 70% say their workload is unmanageable, says UNSW Sydney research.
A new study from researchers at UNSW Sydney – the first to examine rates of depression, anxiety and stress in Australian teachers – has found they experience these mental health issues at three times the national norm.
A key initiative of our School strategy is to ‘Measure and assess the effectiveness of what we do’. A critical area for surveying is our staff, which we survey comprehensively and confidentially every two years (using MMG Education), and in brief on the alternate years.
Our 2025 Staff Survey results are incredibly pleasing, with all categories significantly above the MMG average (13,000 respondents from similar independent schools).
Key Staff elements above the MMG average include:
- Staff Wellbeing 10% above
- Climate and Culture 13% above
- Goal alignment 8% above
- Leadership Support - 8% above
- Overall Satisfaction - 93% - 13% above
The way our staff and parents work in partnership for the benefit of our boys is quite unique and special. It is a partnership built on trust and respect, and one we should guard fiercely.
“Teachers go above and beyond to teach and support and guide my child. I know they love teaching. It shows”. (Parent Survey feedback 2025)
