What a spectacular evening we had last Saturday at the Autumn Ball! In a message to me the following day, a School Council member perfectly summed it up as "a tremendous success by any measure."

The School and P&F Committee would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to so many in our community for their generosity, through the lead-up and during our biennial fundraiser. 

We hope you all enjoyed the excitement of bidding. Congratulations to all our winners, we trust you are delighted with your prizes. The P&F will reach out this week with guidance on collecting your auction items and/or experiences.

A special thank you to our family donors, business sponsors, volunteers, and auction bidders, the strength of our community was so clearly on display, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you also to everyone who attended the Autumn Ball on Saturday night and to our fabulous hosts Lizzy Lovette, Amber Sherlock, and our outstanding auctioneer Lachlan Ridhalgh! 

Finally, we owe a massive debt of gratitude to the exceptional Prep Ball Committee. We are incredibly thankful to Alina Urdea, Ginny Vacy-Lyle, and Anne Beaumont for their time and dedication. A special mention must go to our P&F Co-Presidents, Elisha Houston and Anna Donnan, who dedicated countless extra hours and immense creativity to bringing the vision of the night to life. From grand logistics to the smallest finishing touches, this team's collective dedication made the evening a resounding success.

It was truly a night to remember, and we are so grateful for the memories we shared celebrating together as a community!

It has been a lot of fun teaching the boys Christian Studies and leading them during Chapel this year. I have also recently re-started “Cru groups.”

Cru is an optional group that the boys can join at lunchtime after they finish eating. Senior Primary Cru is held on Wednesdays and Junior Primary Cru is on Thursdays. Junior Primary Cru has been especially popular, so I have had to limit attendance to a different year group each week.

Cru is held at the time that the boys would normally play outside with friends, so I try to make our time together as fun and active as possible. We play a game, learn a lesson from the Bible, then play another game. Where possible, the games are chosen to reinforce the main point of the lesson. We don’t play video games, as fun as that might be. Instead, the games we play at Cru involve taking turns and working together as a team.

CRU (formerly known as Crusaders) groups have been running in schools across Australia since 1930. My predecessor, Rev Daryl Deiner, ran CRU groups at Mosman Prep, so your son may already be familiar with them. This term we are looking at the most famous sermon in history - Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The boys are learning important life lessons from the sermon, including being a witness to the character of God through their own good behaviour, learning not to repay evil with evil but with mercy, and learning to be “kindness ninjas.” That is, seeking to be kind “by stealth,” or doing acts of kindness just because it is the right thing to do, and not simply to win praise from the world.

The Confident Parent Course is designed to help parents like you move from worry to confidence in your parenting. The course is backed by The Parent Hope Project, with teaching from Dr Jenny Brown.

The course begins next Tuesday for 4 evenings (9, 16, 23 and 30 June) and is suitable for parents of young children through to teenagers. Both parents are invited, but not required.

The Year 5 boys of Mosman Prep were invited over to Queenwood for a leadership course on the 28 May 2026. We arrived slightly early and put our bags under cover and walked inside the theatre. Not long after we took our seats the wonderful leaders for that day came in and we were all swapped! We moved next to someone from the other school on either side of you. Though it was unexpected, we enjoyed chatting with them and learning about their school and favourite activities.

Throughout the day, we learned about the importance of being a good leader and how small actions can make a big difference in our surrounding community. We also learned about how we can make a difference in our homes by doing kind acts such as doing the laundry or cleaning the dishes. We were able to have some fun and work together to do fun and friendly competitions between our different groups. We enjoyed working together and had lots of fun by doing what kids do best, making loud noises! We loved the topics for the brain break as they got our energy out before we sat down and worked on our own ideas to help those in need.

At lunch, we all got to sit down together and play multiple games, enjoying the synthetic grass courts which were great for cricket, basketball, tip and touch. Then we went inside to learn more about the interesting topic of leadership, particularly what it means to us to be a leader in our school and how we can act as one. On behalf of Mosman Prep we want to say thank you to Queenwood and Mosman Prep staff who organised this great event. All boys are looking forward to showing how great leaders they can be not just at home, but in the community and at home.

On 3 June, the Year 5 boys headed off to our campus in Terrey Hills. The day was packed with fun and adventure with cooking, maths and gardening. The boys made moon power bites in the kitchen! We used choc chips, coconut, honey and many more ingredients to make healthy SPACE POWER BITES. At lunch, we got to enjoy the baked goods. 

In gardening, the boys studied all the interesting adaptations of plants around Australia and in the classroom the boys studied cross-sections using clay. Gardening was fascinating. The boys all found out that plants have special abilities to stay alive including plants like the banksia which can grow tiny little sprouts under its bark so when a fire comes it can stay alive. 

During the maths activity, Mr Brown used Play-Doh to teach us about cross-sections. We got to make our own object, check its properties and the different cross sections. We then had to work together to make a play doh landmark only using 3D objects. 

At break time we played a number of games including: Tag, Touch Rugby, Basketball, Cricket and much more. 

All in all, by the end of the day all the boys were ready to head home. House Yarnold earned the most points throughout the day for focus and effort. GO YARNOLD!!! I'm sure that all the boys will remember this adventurous day. Also, a huge shout out to all the staff and parents helping us at Terrey Hills, especially our new staff member Mrs Small.

On Thursday, 4 June, our Year 6 School Captains, Luke and Sebastian, joined students from several other local schools and enjoyed an informative morning at NSW Parliament House, hosted by the Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson MP.

It was a great experience that gave the students a chance to meet leaders from other schools and then have a front-row seat to how democracy works.

Highlights of the Day:

Morning Tea and Chats: Upon arriving, the students were welcomed by the Electorate team and taken to the Opposition Party Room. They enjoyed some light refreshments while chatting about leadership and what goes on behind the scenes in parliament.

Live Question Time: The group then made their way to the Gallery to watch Question Time live in the Legislative Assembly. The students all got to see real political debates and democracy in action firsthand!

All the students did an amazing job representing their schools with pride and great curiosity. A huge thank you to Felicity Wilson and her team for hosting such an inspiring and memorable morning for our student leaders!

The Junior Primary Athletics Carnival was held at our Terrey Hills Campus on Tuesday. Despite the damp conditions, it was an amazing day made even more special with the attendance of parents and grandparents. Students participated in a number of different running and novelty events over the course of the day, competing for the Coleman Cup.

Congratulations to all participants from Year 2 to Early Entry for striving for their personal best. It was also great to see the boys display sportsmanship before and after each event with many shaking hands at the end of each race.

A huge thank you again to all staff present at the carnival for their hard work and professionalism to make this amazing event.

We are excited to be entering our school teams in the 2km ‘Primary Inter-Schools Challenge’ event at the Mini-Mos Marathon on Sunday 14 June.

REGISTRATION (link HERE -2km race) - Parents need to register their son/s and all Mosman Prep boys are welcome to enter. For the Interschools Challenge, register your son as an individual and make sure to select Mosman Prep as their child's school and Primary age category.

This term Mosman Prep will be sending a team to play in the NSTA Primary Schools Competition on the evening of Saturday 20 June. This is only a commitment to the Term 2 Challenge. Mr Johnston will be seeking teams each term.

If your son is interested then reply to Mr Edward Johnston via email (ejohnston@mosmanprep.nsw.edu.au). Mr Johnston will also be reaching out to boys during school time to seek interest in playing in this Term 2 competition.

You are then required to go online and register and pay for the competition. All further information is notified directly to you from Northern Districts Tennis.

Saturdays: On Saturdays the MCEPS Information Line will be updated between 6:30 and 7:00am. This number has the most up-to-date information the School can provide regarding matters of sport and excursions. Parents are to call this number and not the School Office. After heavy rain, Mosman Council often closes its grounds, so please check with this number for all school sport and excursion cancellations.

Weekdays: In case of inclement weather, please ring the Prep Information Line, which will be updated from 1:00pm. Ovals might be closed by Mosman Council on fine days, if the preceding days have been wet. It is therefore advised that parents should ring the School’s Information Line on training days if there has been recent rain. 

PLEASE NOTE:  if the message has not been updated, Sport is ON as scheduled.

We’d like to share some recent changes to our P&F Committee membership.

We are delighted to welcome three new members to the P&F team — Ebony Wong, Alina Dorca, and Drew Siow. Each of them has already brought wonderful energy and valuable contributions to the committee.

At the same time, we farewell and acknowledge the incredible contribution of Jeff Brown, who departed late last term, and Kurt Hammel, whose last day is today. They will be greatly missed, and we wish them and their families all the very best as they relocate overseas.

In that spirit, our Meals with Love initiative provides home-cooked evening meals for Mosman Prep families in times of need.Thanks to the generosity of many of our families, parents and staff in our School community have been blessed by this service. To keep this wonderful provision available, we are looking for more volunteers to join our cooking roster!

How it works:

• The Service: We provide anonymous, home-cooked meals to families in need for as long as required.
• The Logistics: Volunteers cook a meal and drop it at the School Office; the school then coordinates a private collection.
• Your Commitment: Occasional! You only cook when you are available.
